Day 1  

Airport / Pinnawala / Sigiriya

Highlights of the day

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our trustee local driver from the airport, who will take you on the most memorable journey of your life.

The first destination for the day would be Pinnawala, where you will visit the famous Elephant Orphanage. This elephant orphanage was first established in 1975 and was said to have just seven elephants at the time. Some of these elephants are fortunate enough to witness their grandchildren being brought up in the same environment as they did.

The original objective of this orphanage was majorly inclined towards tourism, but thereafter it became more of a conservation camp for these elephants and with the help of many local and foreign elephant experts, the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage started a scientific captive breeding for elephants. It is very captivating to witness baby elephants being fed by a feeding bottle and thereafter the entire herd being taken for a bath at the nearby river thereafter.

Thereafter you will be transferred to Sigiriya where you will spend the night at a luxury hotel there.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel on day 2 and then proceed to climb Sigiriya – the 5th century rock fortress.

This famous rock fortress is known to be a world famous heritage site that was built by Sri Lanka King Kashyapa in 477-495AD. This beautiful monument is also known as the ‘Lion Rock’ and is a citadel of unusual beauty in Sri Lanka. It stands 200 meters tall and was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. There is a moat, rampart and broad gardens including the renowned water gardens at the base of the rock. You can also see the beautifully painted frescos, known as the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya on your way to the top of the rock. These frescos are said to be painted in earth pigments on plaster and are definitely a sight for art lovers.

In the evening, go on an elephant back ride and thereafter indulge in a special couple’s spa treatment. This get-away for two is extremely romantic and this massage will surely leave you completely relaxed.

You will stay on for the night at the hotel in Sigiriya.



Day 3 

Sigiriya / Matale / Kandy

After breakfast at the hotel in Sigiriya, you will proceed to Kandy via Matale.

In Matale you will visit a spice garden to see the different spices in Sri Lanka, of how they are grown and processed.

In Kandy, you will begin with a city tour. Kandy was the last capital of the kings of Sri Lanka and was ruled by the last King – King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe before the British came into power in 1815. Kandy is known as a world heritage site and is famous for its rich heritage and spectacular local culture. The most significant highlight in Kandy would be the famous ‘Temple of the Tooth’ also called ‘Sri Dalada Maligawa’. Other attractions would be the Kandy Lake and its forever buzzing town. Wonder on a stroll across this small lakeside town and come across the Kandy City Center nestled amongst the misty hills.

This building features many worldwide brands and is an arts & crafts centre, shopping mall, and even has a gem museum and lapidary in it. You could also drive towards the Victoria Golf Course, which is without a doubt one of the best golf courses in the world.

Enjoy a beautiful cultural show in the evening before heading to the hotel for the night.



Day 4 

Kandy / Peradeniya / Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens which is located 4 miles off Kandy. These gardens were initially built by Sri Lankan Kings as ‘pleasure’ gardens but were thereafter expanded by the British later on. It expands to over 147 acres and contains many beautiful varieties of trees, flowers and plants. Peradeniya is a town located just miles off Kandy. It is a flourishing national asset and could also be considered one of the wonders of Asia. The highlights of these gardens are definitely the Orchid House & the giant javan fig tree.

After this you will proceed to Nuwara Eliya via train. Enjoy the beautiful view and sceneries as you glide through the green hills and valleys covered with tea bushes, from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. The car will follow the rain upto Nanu Oya – from where you will be picked up from by the end of the train ride.

You will stay on for the night at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.



Day 5  

Nuwara Eliya

  • Nuwara Eliya City tour including visit to Gregory Lake

After breakfast at the hotel, you will have the opportunity to visit a tea plantation in Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya is the place where most of the world’s best tea is produced. While you are here, you will be able to taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea.

After that you will go on a city tour of Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya is known for its cool climate and amazing scenery by both locals and tourists as well. It is also home to one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in South Asia. This town plays a major role in the country’s tea industry at this is the main place where tea is produced. Sri Lanka’s tallest mountain the ‘Piduruthalagala’ (8282 feet) is also here.

You also have the opportunity to visit a strawberry farm and go strawberry picking.

You will thereafter return to the hotel and stay on in Nuwara Eliya for the night.



Day 6  

Nuwara Eliya / Yala

After breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred to Yala.

Ella is surrounded with beautiful rocks and mountains, including the towering Ella Rock. So if you are into hiking and mountaineering, you can enjoy some of the most spectacular views of Sri Lanka. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery and cool climate around you.

Enroute Visit Ravana Waterfall

The Ravana Ella or the Ravana falls is one of the widest falls in Sri Lanka and is one of the most popular attractions. It is connected to the Hindu epic, Ramayana, a historic tale that covers over India and Sri Lanka. The falls is said to have been named after the famous king, King Ravana. The story goes that King Ravana kidnapped Princess Sita from India and hid her in the caves behind the waterfall. It is also said the Sita bathed in a pool of water that was collected with the water that fell from the fall. The caves behind the fall are known as the Ravana Ella Caves.

Day 7  

Yala / Galle/ Bentota

Wake up early morning and go on a safari at the Yala National Park.

This Park is a combination of 5 blocks of land that is both nature and parkland. This massive park spreads to around one thousand hectares, but at present, only 2 sections are open to the public. This park is a treat for nature lovers to explore, as it consists of sunshine forests, scrubs, various varieties of grasslands and even lagoons and tanks.

This park has the highest concentration of leopards, majestic elephants, sambars, jackals and even sloth bears. Large flocks of birds of different varieties are also found in this National park.

After the safari, you will return for breakfast and you will proceed to Galle. Here you will go on a mini tour of the city.

Galle was once the chief port in Sri Lanka and is still quite famous for its handmade lace. Witness the famous Galle fort which is over 90acres – initially built by the Portuguese but later expanded by the Dutch in 1663. This is a beautiful world heritage site.

The two most famous tourist attractions in Galle are the Dutch Church and Dutch Museum.

After Galle. You will be transferred to the beautiful beaches of Bentota. You will stay on in Bentota for the night.



Day 8

After breakfast at the hotel, the entire day is for you to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach of Bentota.

Bentota has some of the best beaches in Sri Lanka and is known for the romantic settings carved by both the river and sea. This beautiful setting is utter bliss and will leave you with many memories once you return to your homeland from your holiday in Sri Lanka. Take a quick dip in the ocean or enjoy some amazing water sports such as jet skiing, surfing, diving or even body boarding.

Evenings are a heavenly bliss for those who enjoy sunsets. Witness the beautiful and enchanting sun as it sets and creates the most beautiful view ever.

You will stay on at the hotel at Bentota for the night.



Day 9  

Bentota /Turtle Hatchery / Madu River Safari / Airport

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will proceed to Kosgoda.

In Kosgoda, you will visit the turtle hatchery which is operated by the Wild Life Protection Society in Sri Lanka. Several turtle species are protected at this hatchery, one of the main and most important ones being the hawksbill turtle. Their eggs are said to be left uncovered, scattered all over the coast, unprotected from harm’s way, and fishermen bring them into the hatchery in order to save and protect them. The hatchery has been able to release over 100 baby turtles into the sea in the last 2 years since they opened.

After that you will proceed to Balapitiya. You will go on a Madu River for a River boat Safari.

The Madu River is a shallow body of water that enters the sea at Balapitiya. During the safari, you will visit the rural villages in the vicinity where you will also have a chance witness a cinnamon plantation.

After the river safari, you will finally be transferred to the airport as this will be the end of your romantic honeymoon in Sri Lanka.
